Siren Strike Force

I created Siren Strike Force at Whammy Jammy, a 48 hour rhythm game jam. The intent was to design a rhythm game where the player has the freedom to improvise (as opposed to simply playing back a prewritten song), but encourages the player to act in a way that generates pleasant-sounding music.

Shoot the enemies to inflict damage and defeat them. Attacks to the beat of the backing track are much more powerful (and attacks on the half-beat are somewhat more powerful). Enemies take more damage if they’re attacked while recovering from a previous attack. An enemy who’s preparing to attack will stop if hit by a strong attack.
